Reviews :

Denise Daley (Children's Literature)
Bunnicula is a rabbit with a history of sucking the juices from neighborhood garden vegetables. Harold, the family dog, suspects Bunnicula may be up to his old tricks again. Harold, his nephew Howie, and Chester the cat seem to be the only ones aware of the "vampirized" vegetables. Suspecting Bunnicula, Harold and his pals set off on a mission to save the world from potential disaster. They end up wrecking havoc on the entire neighborhood before discovering that the root of the problem was a simple misunderstanding. In the end, every incongruity is logically explained--or is it? This is a humorous story that is clever and imaginative. Young readers may not understand the Poe reference at the end of the story but will nonetheless enjoy the comical adventures of Harold and his gang. Other popular Bunnicula books by this author include Howliday Inn and Nighty-Nightmare. 2002 (orig. 1983), Aladdin Paperbacks, $4.99. Ages 8 to 12.

Glenda (BookHive (www.bookhive.org))
The Monroes' pets are at it again. Howie, a wire-haired dachsund puppy, has moved into the household with Bunnicula, the vegetarian-vampire- rabbit, Chester the cat, and Harold the dog. When Bunnicula disappears, Chester fears the worst. Will the town of Centerville be crawling with killer parsnips and murderous heads of lettuce? Can Chester, Howie, and Harold save the town? To find out, read this book--written by Harold the dog. Category: Fantasy; Humor; Mystery. Grade Level: Intermediate (4th-6th grade). 1993, Atheneum. Ages 9 to 12.
(PUBLISHER: Atheneum (New York:), PUBLISHED: 1983.)

Bill Boyle (Books for Keeps No. 45, July 1987)
This further adventure of Bunnicula, the vampire rabbit, is yet another delightful comic treat from an author who freely admits to having been raised on a diet of 'corn, ham and punster cheese'. Lots of 'groan' lines which kids love, such as the definition of a vampire is 'a person who calls the rules during a tennis match'. While chapter headings like 'Some Thoughts on Vegetables. Or a Dead Beet in the Neighbourhood', firmly establish the 'terrible tale' in its correct humorous context. Category: Middle/Secondary. . ...., Dragon, £1.75 pbk. Ages 10 to 14.
